Typical American Food, Simple but Favorite

Food has an important role in the culture and traditions of a society. Every country and region has its own special and traditional cuisine that reflects the cultural diversity and natural resources that exist in that place. However, many say that countries like America do not have typical food. Is it true?

Because America is inhabited by various races and cultures due to transmigration, it could be said that traditional food from Uncle Sam’s country does not exist. However, there are certain foods that come to mind immediately when mentioning typical American food. This is because its appearance and distribution is mostly in America.

1. Hamburgers

Hamburgers have a shape that is generally round or oval, depending on the size and style of preparation. The ground beef patty used in hamburgers is usually compacted into a flatter round or oval shape. Some restaurants or hamburger manufacturers use special molds to get a uniform shape.

The texture of a hamburger depends on the part of the meat used and the cooking method. The meat patty used usually has a soft texture, especially if you use meat that is quite fat. When cooked, the outside of the patty can have a crispy crust, while the inside is soft and juicy.

2. Hot Dogs

Hot dogs have a long and cylindrical shape. Made from sausages which are usually made from beef, pork, or a mixture of both which are finely chopped and mixed with spices and other additional ingredients. Hot dog sausages generally have an edible outer skin known as a casing.

Hot dog sausages which are generally used in hot dogs usually have a soft and smooth texture because they have undergone a process of grinding or crushing the meat before being filled into the casing. The outer skin of a hot dog sausage can provide a slight crunch or chewiness when bitten into.

3. Lobster Rolls

Lobster rolls are a typical American dish, especially popular in the New England region. Lobster rolls are generally served in sandwich form. The cooked lobster meat is cut into larger pieces and then mixed with the other ingredients. Then, the lobster meat mixture is placed in a long bun, such as a hot dog bun or long bun.

Pancakes have flat and round shapes with varying diameters depending on the size they are made. They usually have a smooth and even surface after being lightly fried in butter. Pancakes have a sweet taste with a slight savory taste but can also be modified by adding vanilla, cinnamon, or other extracts.

The texture of pancakes is generally soft and slightly chewy on the inside, while the outside is crispy and browned. This happens because of the process of cooking the pancakes on a hot surface.
