Editor’s note: The following article was originally published in August 2017 and has been updated to account for the release of AutoCAD Crack Mac 2020.
Autodesk AutoCAD, like most Autodesk products, is a product suite composed of many individual applications. AutoCAD, or simply CAD, is the leading desktop 2D drafting software application for creating 2D drawings. AutoCAD LT is a 2D modeling and drafting app designed to be used with older version of AutoCAD and other drafting applications.
If you are using AutoCAD in a workgroup environment, you must install the Autodesk Network Technology (ANT) server software as well. The ANT server software is required to connect to shared drawings in the AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT families of apps.
The following article focuses on the desktop version of AutoCAD, but has been adapted for readers using AutoCAD LT.
1. Introducing AutoCAD
The primary purpose of CAD programs is to provide an organized way to draw 2D and 3D objects. For example, in AutoCAD, 2D drafting requires the ability to select and draw straight and curved lines, boxes, arcs, and splines. 3D modeling allows you to place, rotate, scale, and delete objects.
2. How Do I Draw a Rectangle?
Begin by opening the application and drawing a rectangle by using the Rectangle tool. When you’re finished, simply click the Windows taskbar icon to close the application.
3. How Do I Draw a Circle?
Begin by drawing a circle by using the Circle tool. When you’re finished, simply click the Windows taskbar icon to close the application.
4. How Do I Start a Drawings?
Begin by opening the application. At the bottom of the application window, select Create > New.
5. Drawing an Arcs
Select the Arc tool. On the Tool Options bar, click the Options button, and select to draw a polyline in a single or double curve arc. The first click creates a circular path, and the second click continues the arc on the selected path.
6. Drawing a Box
To draw a box, select the Rectangle tool. Place the mouse cursor in the box you’d like to draw, and then click once to draw a square. To draw a rectangular box, click

AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel
AutoCAD provides natively integrated support for Microsoft Excel. Excel spreadsheet functions such as charts, pivot tables, and so on can be incorporated directly in the drawing to provide a fully integrated work environment. Excel 2007, 2010, 2013 and 2016 support a fully integrated set of AutoCAD tools.
A plug-in for using AutoCAD with Excel is available from the Autodesk Exchange Apps store. The AutoCAD Excel plugin allows you to connect with and work with both Excel and AutoCAD drawing files, drawing shapes, creating annotating layers in both systems.
Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 (32- and 64-bit versions)
Supported Mac OS
Mac OS X (including 10.4 Tiger, 10.5 Leopard, 10.6 Snow Leopard, 10.7 Lion, 10.8 Mountain Lion, 10.9 Mavericks, 10.10 Yosemite, 10.11 El Capitan, 10.12 Sierra, 10.13 High Sierra)
AutoCAD’s networking capability was overhauled in 2009 to provide a more modern and reliable set of networking tools and capabilities. The program now provides advanced facilities for managing AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT from Windows-based or macOS-based machines. While this capability is used primarily for managing licensed installations, it is also fully capable of maintaining drawings in the cloud. For Windows machines, the networking capabilities include:
Autodesk Design Review
Design Review is a tool that enables users to analyze and evaluate components or assemblies. AutoCAD does not provide the ability to display components or assemblies in a separate window. Rather, components are created as part of the original drawing. Design Review also allows users to view drawings with components that have been marked up with dimension and line styles, but without any information regarding the component’s actual data.
The first publicly available AutoCAD was Autodesk’s 3D Studio Max in November 1994. Initially available as a stand-alone product, 3D Studio Max was bundled with AutoCAD starting with AutoCAD Release 13.5 in May 1997. AutoCAD Release 14 (August 1999) shipped with a completely rewritten set of code with the intent of creating a new architecture and a more modern code base for its componentized environment.
AutoCAD LT features some of the same
Open your Autodesk Autocad product.
Go to the “My Keys” option, which is found in your Autodesk Autocad product.
Find the desired key code (in this case: WA), and copy it.
If you don’t want to show the key code, just click the “Hide the key” option.
Go to the UPNP console and enter the following commands to generate a random key:
* WA is the key code that you copied from Autodesk Autocad.
* You must not use “AUTOKAD” or “AUTOCAD” in the key code.
* It is recommended that you not use any of the default files that are in the folder that you create, because they are automatically linked to the key you have generated.
* You cannot use any single character in the key.
* If you use more than one letter in your key, it will not work.
* When you run the generate random key tool, it will create a new file named with the date and time that you ran the command, so you must ensure that you don’t run the command more than once every 24 hours.
* Once you are done generating your key, you must delete the temporary key.
* You must be able to generate any random key, but you cannot generate a key that matches your account password.
* If you generate a duplicate key, you will not be able to use it.
* The key will never be used more than twice.
* You can delete the key when you are finished with it, but be careful when you do so.
* When you delete the key, you are also deleting any information that it contained.
* If you delete a key, you will be prompted to register again.
* The key will not generate when you are offline.
* A backup file will be automatically created for you.
* You must be connected to the internet when you use the tool.
* You must be able to copy a key from one folder to another.
What’s New In AutoCAD?
The right look for any occasion:
AutoCAD can now export documents to 2D barcodes, QR codes, and similar data-driven formats. Use a simple script or import from any file to automatically generate these high-quality formats. (video: 1:15 min.)
Design and rapid iteration:
Design a component or image by instantly inserting a pattern from a web font or custom image, and use that design in all your drawings. (video: 1:15 min.)
You can now start working with shared models or any cloud collaboration solution that supports embedded video, and switch among them quickly and easily by using a new Navigation Model Switching button. (video: 1:15 min.)
Change the style of your viewport title for a consistent and attractive look and feel, and easily combine several styles at once. (video: 1:15 min.)
Keep your Autodesk design files and project history in sync across all your devices. One of the fastest ways to launch a new drawing in a new project is now just a click away, no waiting for a project to load. (video: 1:15 min.)
The Adobe Experience Design (AED) interface is similar to Adobe Creative Cloud, so you can pick up and use design workflows from AED quickly. With one consistent user interface you can work in any of the open source and commercial tools that AED supports. (video: 1:15 min.)
Add descriptive annotations to your drawings, and easily navigate to your annotations without losing your position. (video: 1:15 min.)
