A Modulator / oscillator, with ring modulation, and a Peak Detector. The modulators output is fed to a Voltage Controlled Amplifier (VCA) or Multi-mode filter (VCS), allowing for very complex waveforms, such as Ring Modulated oscillators, PWM modulated filters, etc.
In VCA mode the oscillator output is sent directly into a Voltage Controlled Amplifier (VCA), where it is overdriven with an additional band pass filter, acting as a peak detector. In Multi-mode filter mode, the oscillator output is fed into a separate band-pass filter, while the VCA level is also attenuated. The output of the filters is mixed together, thus creating waveforms with a modulated frequency, in the center of the waveform.
The VCA mode (and Flanger modes) can be activated by pushing the button, while the VCF (Multi-mode filter) mode is activated by setting the envelope to, or slightly over, 0 volts (depending on the waveforms you select). The Mode button allows you to toggle between the three modes.
The Mode button also disables the Bass and Treble knobs. The bass controls the speed at which the oscillator is attenuated, while the treble controls the speed at which the envelope is attenuated. The VCF can also be used in unison with the LFO to create very rich waveforms.
The Bias control sets the amplitude (envelope) or frequency response of the filter, as well as its center / cutoff frequency. You can also use the Controls and the LFO to set a custom envelope function.
This plugin is a bit of a beast, but it’s the most powerful and versatile plugin we’ve made yet. With a few simple patches to get you going, you’ll be playing in minutes.
This plugin requires your computer to be running a Windows operating system. Throbber VST requires the VST Compiler 3.0 or later (for Windows XP and higher) and the Windows 7 and Windows 8 libraries (version 6.2 or later).
Windows is not required to use the Mac version of the plugin, the Mac version is VST2 compatible.
